Euthanasia vans should visit homes and put the elderly to sleep says Katie Hopkins

"It’s ridiculous to be living in a country where we can put dogs to sleep but not people"

Controversial TV personality Katie Hopkins says that if she was in charge one of the first things she would introduce would be "euthanasia vans", which would visit people's homes and put the elderly to sleep.
In an interview with Michael Buerk in this week’s Radio Times, the former Apprentice contestant is asked what she would do “If Katie Hopkins ruled the world”.

And her response?

“Right… We just have far too many old people. It’s ridiculous to be living in a country where we can put dogs to sleep but not people.”

Her solution to the problem would, she claims, be "easy": "Euthanasia vans – just like ice-cream vans – that would come to your home… It would all be perfectly charming. They might even have a nice little tune they’d play. I mean this genuinely. I’m super-keen on euthanasia vans. We need to accept that just because medical advances mean we can live longer, it’s not necessarily the right thing to do.”

She also reserves a few harsh words for overweight people in her interview with Buerk, the slimline host of highbrow Radio 4 ethics discussion programme The Moral Maze.

“You’re fat because you eat too much and don’t do exercise," she tells the obese of Britain. "End of. My dream job would be to sit in the doctor’s surgery, ticking them off. ‘Get a grip, you fat b*****d. Stop eating and get out there and walk.’ ”
